A Remodeling Contractor Who Plans the Whole Sequence

Home Remodeling in Goshen, NY: A Three-Phase Roadmap

Phase One: Plan and Prepare the Shell
Start with the decisions that everything else depends on.
- Scope and layout. If you want a wall removed or a kitchen opened up, we settle that before any cabinets are ordered.
- Permits. Some projects need one. Decks often do, and so can a basement that adds a bedroom or bathroom. We can guide you through the process.
- Windows, doors, and siding. Replacement windows let in more light, block outside noise, and are easy to open and clean. For siding, we remove the old material, check the wall underneath, and install new vinyl. Most siding jobs take one to two weeks.
- A basement check. Before we finish a
basement, we look for moisture problems and take steps to keep the room dry.
Phase Two: Rebuild the Rooms
Once the shell and layout are settled, we rebuild the rooms you use most.
- Kitchen remodels. Cabinets, surfaces, and fixtures, with the flooring, plumbing, and electrical work coordinated around them. Smaller updates take a few weeks, and full-scale renovations typically run six to eight weeks.
- Bathroom remodels. Walk-in showers, soaking tubs, vanities, and compact layouts. Simple updates run two to three weeks, and full renovations four to six.
- Basement build-out. Framing, insulation, drywall and finishing, flooring, lighting, and paint, all by one team. The result can be a family room, office, guest bedroom, or gym.
Phase Three: Finish, Paint, and Move Outside
The finishes go in last, so they do not get damaged by the heavy work.
- Interior painting. Color consultation, furniture moved and covered, and low-VOC options. Most projects take one to five days.
- Surfaces and lighting. Countertops in granite, quartz, or custom sizes, and kitchen lighting that includes recessed, under-cabinet, and LED fixtures.
- Outdoor living. Deck installation takes one to two weeks, porch restoration takes one to three, and exterior painting is best scheduled for spring, summer, or early fall.
A
new set of cabinets can fit in either phase two or phase three, depending on whether the layout is changing.
Three Planning Rules We Follow
- Decide the layout before the cabinets. Full cabinet replacement makes sense when the layout changes, and refacing works when it does not.
- Settle windows and doors before paint. A new window changes the trim around it, so it is easier to paint once.
- Paint last. Dust, deliveries, and tool traffic are hard on fresh finishes.
What Happens Before, During, and After
- Before. You get a free consultation, an upfront quote and scope of work, and a clear timeline before work begins.
- During. One team coordinates the trades and works with licensed plumbers and electricians, so you do not have to hire each trade separately.
- After. We finish with a walkthrough of the completed project.
Low-VOC and eco-friendly paint options for a safer home environment
We take the time to properly prepare each surface, ensuring a clean, even, and polished result that you’ll love for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I remodel first?
Start with anything that changes the layout or the shell of the house, such as a wall removal, new windows and doors, or a basement. Kitchens and baths come next, and paint and finishes go last. We help you set the order during the consultation.
Do you replace windows and siding as part of a remodel?
Yes. We install replacement windows, entry and exterior doors, and vinyl siding. We tell you the timeline before the work begins, and most siding jobs take one to two weeks.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A simple update takes about two to three weeks, and a full renovation takes about four to six. The timeline depends on the scope of the project.
Do I need a permit to build a deck?
Many decks do need a permit. We know the local rules and can guide you through the process so the deck meets code.
Can I remodel one project at a time?
Yes. Interior painting, a new countertop, or a deck can each stand alone. A kitchen or basement brings several trades together. In the consultation, we sort out which projects fit together and which can wait.
